Our infatuation with west side Paso Robles Syrah, the 99 Steps is a small lot selection of our best Syrah barrels from the 2019 vintage. In 2019 we had the distinct pleasure and opportunity to share a block of Syrah with our friend Orion Stang at Bill Gibbs’ esteemed G2 Vineyard on Paso’s West side. Situated on a dramatically steep, Eastern facing slope of the vineyard, the wine has some finer edges with a bedrock opulence in the savory range of flavors. We co-fermented about 5% Viognier with the Syrah to elevate the aromatics and richen the palate with sticky fruit, and utilized some of our favorite French Oak barrels that provide a smoky and toasty touch.
