2018 Grenache LIBRARY
The ephemeral beauty of Rhone red varieties, Grenache may be light in color, but diffusing from the glass you’ll find fresh aromas and a bounty of fruit with a palate of silky smooth texture and a light, refreshing body. West side Paso Robles is home to some of the best Grenache sites in the world, and at Alta Colina Vineyard the Grenache vines sit at nearly 1800’ elevation overlooking the rest of the west side. This exposed and unique vineyard site pays good tribute to the thinking that great fruit is grown in beautiful places.
Rich and bawdy aromas of brown sugar, vanillin, and reduced blueberries invade your senses. Floral scents of rosemary intermingle with dehydrated figs, and a fresh peach cobbler sweetness rises from the background. The palate of the wine is teeming with life as the entry boasts a rich, yet bright, array of concentrated red currants and strawberries along with blackberry jam. A refreshing acidity is held within the core of the wine, while the edges are filled with soft and supple tannins. The wine finishes harmoniously with a firm amount of tannin while flavor continues to streak along the palate well after it is gone.
